And the verdict is...

It's a GIRL!!!

We ended up having our ultrasound a little bit early since we had to reschedule it at the health center. We are so excited for our little girl to come!!

And... we have a due date!! Finally! Our little girl is due August 17th... for now. haha!

This means that my doctor was wrong about thinking I was further along. I sure hope that doesn't mean that our little one is just a big baby... For those of you who don't know, Alec was a HUGE baby. I have so much respect for Donne (Alec's mom). Alec weighed 11 pounds when he was born... I'm afraid of having a baby that big.

Anyway, we're just so excited! Alec is especially excited to have a little daddy's girl! She'll have him wrapped in no time. :)

The Countdown...

In 11 days, we have our ultrasound appointment where we will find out if we are having a boy or a girl! We should also find out our DUE DATE at that appointment! We cannot wait!

Alec and I are planners. We like to plan things to death. We already drew out the baby room on a smaller scale and cut out pieces of paper for the furniture and arranged it all in the room. Now all I need is to know if we're having a boy or a girl so I can plan the decorations! Excessive, I know. We still have over 4 months to go, but we're both just afraid that it will go by too fast and then we'll have too much to do right at the end when I'm nice and fat. We'll both be working full-time and taking a few classes over the summer, so we don't want to procrastinate.

For now, we're just crossing our fingers that the little guy or gal will cooperate so the doctor can see which he/she is!

Our Day in Florida!

Noteworthy was invited to sing at a benefit event for MD Anderson Hospital in Orlando, Florida last weekend. They agreed to pay for all of our expenses AND they even agreed to fly the director and her husband (aka Alec and I) out for the concert! We were extremely excited despite the fact that it was going to be a rather short trip. By short, I mean short.

The rest of the girls flew out Thursday morning, but I had a Women's Chorus concert that night so Alec and I flew out Friday morning. We got to the Orlando airport at around 6pm Friday night. The weather was AMAZING! It was so warm and humid, but not too humid. Just enough for my skin to be in heaven.

On Saturday, Noteworthy performed at Lake Eola (pictured below).

It was so beautiful there! Our hotel was right by the lake (it's one of those buildings at the top of the picture) so it was perfect. The weather that day was in the 80's so I got to wear the dress Alec got me for my birthday!

Unfortunately, Alec got pretty sick on Saturday with a really high fever, but we still got to spend quite a bit of time out and about during the day. We're pretty sure he got sick because we decided that this was going to be like a honeymoon since we never truly got one. We are cursed with poor health when it comes to honeymoons. :)

We left for the airport Sunday morning at 5:15 am Utah time. I did say it was only a day in Florida. It was a full day of traveling! We flew from Orlando to Milwaukee, from Milwaukee to Phoenix where we had a two hour layover, and then we flew from Phoenix to Salt Lake City. We arrived at the Salt Lake airport at 7:45 pm... Talk about a long day.

Even though it was a pretty short trip, it was a wonderful break from school and from the cold. Now I'm ready for summer. :)

Due Date

What is the first thing people ask when you tell them you're pregnant?

So, when are you due?

Such a simple question, right?

Not for us! We don't have a due date. We think that I am approximately 16 weeks along.
The first time I went to see the doctor, we thought I was 10 weeks, but then they told me I was 5 weeks. When I went to see the doctor 4 weeks ago, we thought I was 11 weeks, but when the doctor measured me he said he thought I was at least 12 weeks.

We went to see the doctor again today and there was still plenty of confusion. They had me at 20 weeks in the computer because that's where I would be if I had really been 10 weeks at my first appointment. We reminded the doctor that I should be about 16 weeks according to what he told us 4 weeks ago. Then when he measured me today, he said something about how I could be close to 20 weeks!

Are you confused yet?

I sure am. We have an ultrasound scheduled in the middle of March which is when we'll find out the sex of the baby and FINALLY have a due date!!

Until then, I still don't know what to tell people when they ask me when the baby is due. Maybe I'll just say Julaugust...

Snow

It snowed here last night. It has been relatively warm today, though so it has all pretty much melted. We have had a nice break from the cold this week and I knew it would end soon. I keep wondering when the last snow of the season will be... Who knows? I definitely don't think this was it though.

The first snow of the season was in October. Alec and I went into the grocery store to get a few things for dinner and when we came out, it was snowing!! And it wasn't just snowing, there were HUGE flakes falling from the sky!! We had to take some pictures.

The blizzard didn't last too long so it only snowed a couple of inches, but it was definitely a good start to the snowy season. Now come on Spring!! I'm ready for you!

Update!

Well it has been forever since my last post, and SO much has been going on!! Let me list some of the happenings in our lives.

We were given callings in our ward. Alec and I teach the 7-year-olds in Primary. They are so much fun, even when they have just a tad too much energy... :)

We experienced the joys of an early winter... it snowed in the middle of October.

Alec carved his first pumpkin in 3 years!! I'm not sure why we didn't carve pumpkins last year, but the two years before that, he was in Mexico serving his mission! It was great fun. I'll post pictures another time.

We finished fall semester and were able to visit our wonderful families in California for Thanksgiving AND Christmas! We had such a great time.

We came back to Provo and experienced several car problems. We learned that we can easily function with one car... although going to campus early with Alec for his 7 AM class in freezing temperatures was not that fun...

We made it through the first 1/3 of winter semester! Now it's time for our first round of mid-terms! Woo hoo!!

I made it through my first trimester! Yes, that's right! I'm pregnant! I'm 14 weeks along, due in August. We couldn't be more excited, especially because our little babe will have so many cousins born around the same time!

That's about all that we've been up to! Just school, work, and a little bit of fun sprinkled in there! :)

Oh School...

I have a love-hate relationship with school. I love learning. I love BYU's beautiful campus. I love music and I get to study it every day. I do not love never getting to see Alec for more than a minute or two between the hours of 6:45 AM and 7:00 PM. I do not love eating dinner at 8 PM because we didn't have time until then. I definitely do not love getting 4 hours of sleep a night due to the amount of homework I have. I am ready to be done... Too bad I still have another few semesters of this left, not including the one we just began.

Although I complain, I do feel so blessed to be able to study what I love. I am growing in ways I never would have dreamed and am associating with so many talented musicians who push me to be better. I never feel like the best or the smartest in ANY of my classes which motivates me to study harder and longer to become better. I know that one day I will look back and appreciate my time as a struggling student!
