6 Months Already??!!

Six months ago, this beautifully chubby little baby girl came into our lives!

Newborn stats:
Height: 20 1/2 inches
Weight: 9 lbs 10 oz

I cannot believe that half a year has already gone by! She has gone from this small (relatively) infant, to...

A happy, smiling, baby!!

Here are the stats from her 6 month check-up:
Height: 27 1/2 inches
Percentile: Off the chart... haha!
Weight: 21 lbs 2 oz
Percentile: Off the chart hahahaha!!

Are any of you that even know Alec surprised?? Alec is 6' 4" and weighed 11 lbs 3 oz when he was born, remember? We were destined to have a large baby.

Lily still has beautiful blue eyes and brown hair. Her hair has lightened up a bit since she was born though.

Lily is soooooo smiley!!
She is also a very social baby. Whenever she sees someone, she just can't help but smile at them! And they can't help but smile back! I mean how could you resist.

Lily was a terrible sleeper in the beginning, then she became a pretty good sleeper, and now she is only a good sleeper when she's in Mom and Dad's bed. I can't say I mind. :)

Lily's hair is about 5 inches long now. Her hair is now so long that I have to put it up in a ponytail most days. It goes down to her nose when it is combed straight down.

Lily's laugh is so contagious. She especially likes to laugh at Daddy. He's goofy. :)

One of Lily's favorite things to do is play airplane, and she has more rolls than I can count.

Lily's skin is pasty white! She got my skin. We thought she had her dad's skin when she was first born, but it quickly became lighter and eventually looked exactly like my skin... I'm sorry Lily!

She loves to chew on anything she can get ahold of, even her toes. She's a flexible one!
And she sucks her thumb... (we're working on that)

We can't imagine life without this little rascal! She is such an amazing blessing. As it says in one of her favorite bed time books, we love her through and through, yesterday, today, and tomorrow too!

Happy Half Birthday Lily!!

Alec's Birthday

Alec turned 24 yesterday! We had a great time celebrating! Lily and I made this for him for his birthday.

I put the pictures in a frame for him and he put it in his office at work. :) I think that she is pretty dang cute! It took a very long time to get these pictures! As soon as I handed her the letter, it went right in her mouth and I couldn't even see her face in a lot of the pictures! I'm a terrible photographer... ask Alec. I eventually got these pictures. I had to edit the photos to get rid of the glistening slobber all over her chin and chest, though. There were some other cute ones that I put on facebook if you're interested in looking at them.

Multi-Tasking

Being a mom is very hard work. Having a job is also hard work in a very different way. Doing them at the same time, however, is a whole different story...

Alec and I are poor students, so we knew that when we had Lily, we wouldn't be able to afford getting a baby-sitter for classes. Luckily, we were able to work out our schedules so while one of us is in class or at work, the other is home with Lily. Then, one of my old co-workers asked me if I would want to come back to my old job and work for her 6-10 hours/week. We needed the money, and the hours fit our schedule perfectly... with one exception.

Sorry about the blurry picture! I took it with my phone.

Every Wednesday is go with Mommy to work day!

If you were to walk up to my desk, you may see something like this...

or this...

I'll lay down a blanket on the floor by my desk and let her roll around down there until she causes too much trouble. Then she gets to sit in Mom's lap while I tend to my front desk duties. She loves to smile at everyone who comes to the desk and she especially loves Mommy's keyboard.

Lily is usually very well behaved (usually being the operative word) as long as she is entertained by her toys or by people walking by and coming to talk to us.

All I can say is that I have mastered typing with one hand and multi-tasking.

Halloween and Thanksgiving!

It has been quite a while since I last posted. Here is my long catch-up post!

Here are some pictures from Halloween. I dressed Lily up in this adorable costume that my mom bought for her and visited Alec at work. We just stayed home that night and handed out candy to the trick-or-treaters. Lily was fast asleep by 7. Next Halloween will be much more exciting I'm sure. :)

Next up, Thanksgiving!!
We decided to choose between going to California for Thanksgiving or for Christmas. I didn't really want to drive down there twice within a month with a 4 month old... So we chose to stay in Utah for Thanksgiving. It worked out really well because Cameron, Melissa, and their kids, Caleb and Leighton ended up coming up to Utah! We spent all day Wednesday at Temple Square with them and then we went to Magleby's for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. The food was AMAZING and the best part was that we didn't have to do the dishes. :) Then on Friday we went to see the lights at Temple Square. We had a great Thanksgiving week! Here are some pictures from our adventures!

Lily fell asleep pretty soon after we got there. She was bundled up in several layers plus Alec put the baby carrier on inside his jacket so she felt his body heat as well. Oh the life of a baby... :)

Before...

After!

We have had a few wonderful and very busy months. Now we just can't wait for Christmas!!

Hair

We have a nighttime routine for Lily which includes bathing her, massaging her with lotion, and brushing her hair. She usually likes this routine, especially the bath part. The other night, she fell asleep while we were bathing her (a common occurrence), so she was plenty tired after her bath, and the following ensued...

The many hairstyles of Lily

That's right she did indeed fall asleep again while we were playing with her hair. It dried crazy so we had to re-wet it and brush it normally before we put her to bed. We have WAY too much fun with her hair...

Bath Time = Nap Time

That's right. Lily LOVES her baths. She loves relaxing in the tub. She loves it so much that she often falls asleep during her baths...

This bathtub is AMAZING (Thank you Brianne!!)! The water first goes through a section with a thermometer that beeps if the water is too hot or too cold. Then, the water runs into the main bathtub. You can leave the faucet running so that the water recirculates and stays clean. :) Anyway, this is part of the reason why she falls asleep. She's living in the lap of luxury.
